If you've ever dreamed of a hands-on opportunity to start a wild mustang, the Wild Mustang Training Academy at Havens Hideout Ranch is the place to be. This program is a recipient of an MHF Adoption Education grant and uses the funding to help teach people how to take a mustang from wild to a trusted partner.

Havens Hideout Ranch

Located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania is Havens Hideout Ranch, owned by Douglas Haven. Doug started the ranch to introduce the cowboy lifestyle to the east coast, bringing his over 40 years of experience to the Mid-Atlantic region. From a childhood growing up on a cattle ranch to years working with the BLM Trainer Incentive Program, Doug has an extensive training toolbox he shares with members of the training academy.

Wild Horse Training Academy

Doug set up the Wild Mustang Training Academy as a four to six month professional training program to allow for in-depth, hands on experiences taking a mustang from wild to under saddle using a natural instincts training method.

In his most recent training session, twenty people watched on as he demonstrated techniques to use the horse's natural inclinations and behaviors to build a connection.
