In its sixth year, the Maryland Mustang Mission Open Show is something mustang owners, trainers, and enthusiasts look forward to every summer. This event welcomes all levels of horse and rider, includes both English and Western disciplines, and offers in-hand, lead line, and ridden options to total 40 different classes to let your mustang shine!

This year's event ran August 28 – 30 and included 60 different mustang competitors. With an estimated 900 spectators and participants, this show is a great opportunity to showcase the versatility of the mustang and a chance to celebrate the partnerships that have been forming between horse and rider since adoption – whether that be years or in some cases, only a matter of months.

The Maryland Mustang Mission Open Show also acted as a qualifier for the Wild Mustang & Burro Finals taking place in October this year.

Mustang-specific shows like the Maryland Mustang Mission Open Show are some of the best ways that our community can support increasing the adoption rate of mustangs in off range holding facilities. These events increase public awareness, support new adopters in their journey, and honor the accomplishments of existing mustang owners. The more visible mustangs become in the mainstream equine community, the more people will be inspired to choose one as their partner.

Funding from the Mustang Heritage Foundation Event Sponsorship grant directly supported this event— providing awards for the show such as winner buckles to celebrate the accomplishments of the top ranking mustangs and owners.
