Michigan Mustang Series

The Michigan Mustang Challenge and Series hosts open shows throughout the year for wild-bred mustangs. As the first series of its kind, it promotes mustang adoptions and ownership through 7 mustang makeover divisions and various disciplines, such as western, liberty, jumping, dressage, in-hand, and more. The event has expanded significantly each year, now featuring over 200 mustangs from nearby regions.

Moreover, the series has fostered a community. Mustang owners rely on one another for support, encouragement, and entertainment. Their Facebook group is vibrant, with friends sharing updates, training achievements, and seeking advice from each other.

In addition to managing the Michigan Mustang Series, Kody and Cady LaPoint also run LaPoint Longhorn Ranch full time. As the series has expanded, balancing these responsibilities is no easy task! Many of the event roles are staffed by volunteers who are passionate about America's mustangs. This is precisely the kind of community-focused event that the Mustang Heritage Foundation seeks to support.

Funding from the Mustang Heritage Foundation Event Sponsorship program directly supported this event—providing administrative support and awards for competitors to encourage long-term mustang ownership.
