Wild Horse Summit

The Wild Horse Summit held at Trail of Faith Farms in Trenton, North Carolina took place June 12 –14, 2026. This event was held to educate and raise awareness around wild mustangs and burros to promote adoption and support the community.  

Over forty people attended the event, learning about how to adopt their own wild horse or burro. Over the course of the weekend, there were several mustang trainers completing live gentling demos and answering questions about their experiences, training practices, and the benefits of a partnership with a mustang. 

After the Friday evening showcase where a trainer demonstrated all the things they have been able to do with their mustangs, many attendees were inspired to add one to their herd. In total, five mustangs were adopted from the event and headed home on their next adventure!  

Supporting the Mission 

Funding from the Mustang Heritage Foundation Adoption Education grant directly supported this event—providing shade and water to keep attendees and horses comfortable, as well as providing materials and support for trainers conducting the demos.  

This is what community in action looks like.
