2011 National Wild Horse Adoption Awareness Campaign

In June 2011, the Mustang Heritage Foundation will launch a National Wild Horse Adoption Awareness Campaign. Many activities are planned to help increase awareness of Wild Horse Adoptions and help bring potential adopters together with wild horses waiting for homes.

Ride for the Mustangs
On September 10, the American Competitive Trail Horse Association will attempt to set a new competitive trail riding Guinness™ World Record with the Ride for the Mustangs. Rides are planned for across the United States. Money raised by the ACTHA Ride for the Mustangs will help increase Mustang adoption awareness and help the Mustang Heritage Foundation in its mission to increase the number of adoptions of American Mustangs.

ACTHA’s mission is to provide an enjoyable venue showcasing the wonderful attributes of the great American trail horse, granting them the recognition they so richly deserve; to maintain a registry open to all breeds and a point designation system which will stay with each horse for its lifetime, thereby adding to their value and distinction; and to enable the humane treatment of horses in need. For more information on ACTHA or the Ride for the Mustangs, visit www.actha.us or call 877-992-2842 ext. 801

Educational DVD
Working with world-renowned clinicians, the Mustang Heritage Foundation created a DVD packed with helpful advice and training tips on adopting a wild horse from the BLM. Clinicians  Craig Cameron, Chris Cox and Pat Parelli each filmed and aired segments on their television shows promoting Mustang adoption. With the immense popularity of the clinicians, the television programs are reaching many horse enthusiasts who might not have thought about adopting a wild horse. The information is also available on several of the clinician’s websites for fans to view again. The segments have been combined onto a DVD, which will be made available to the public at adoption events. The training tips and information on adopting a wild horse from a BLM adoption facility are designed to give perspective adopters the confidence to make the commitment to take home one of America’s treasured Mustangs.
